There are already a lot of options when it comes to food in Iloilo City. With restaurants offering various kinds of menu and specialties, you will never run out of option.

To help you decide where to eat next time, I am starting a series of food posts featuring a gastronomic journey with some tenants of SM City Iloilo Southpoint.

I am a week late to this food trip event participated by my fellow Iloilo Bloggers due to my busy work schedule. But it's never too late to catch up, and to officially kick off this delightful series, here is Aklan's original, Ramboy's.

Started in Numancia, Aklan in the early 1990s as lechonan, Ramboy's has expanded its products and became one of the most celebrated brands of Aklan with 18 branches all over Luzon and Visayas at present.

True to its tagline "Aklan's Best Chicken and Liempo", Ramboy's has indeed the best-tasting lechon manok and pinoy all-time favorite liempo. That is why it is also being loved by the Ilonggos.

In fact, aside from its branch in SM City Iloilo Southpoint, it has 2 other branches in Iloilo City located in Molo (adjacent to Molo Plaza) and  Boardwalk (beside the Iloilo River Esplanade).

To help you decide what to get when you happen to drop by Ramboy's, here are some of the best-selling dishes that you shouldn't miss in this local restaurant.

Liempo (P350)
Who is not a fan of this putok-batok dish? Ramboy's Liempo is I must say one of the best I ever tasted. It's crispy in the outside and juicy in the inside. So, who am I not to give in to this mouthwatering goodness? Their very own recipe of the sauce also balances the flavor that you will not feel guilty of eating it at all.

Lechon Manok (P250)
Lechon Manok will never be absent on the table of Filipinos in any kind of occasion. Even in ordinary family gatherings, this simple dish brings joy to everyone. Ramboy's Lechon Manok is really perfect for the whole family. It's all good even without the sauce.

Sinigang na Isda (P285)
Another pinoy staple, Fish Sinigang has already become a byword for soup dish for most Filipino families. Ramboy's take of Fish Sinigang got my palate celebrate. It's not too sour and the vegetables are not over-cooked, just the way I like it.

Sotanghon Guisado (P145)
Sotanghon Guisado is a celebratory dish for most Filipinos as it entails "long life". Ramboy's version of Sotanghon Guisado does not only mean long life, it also means a happy tummy with its perfectly cooked noodles and veggies.

Halabos (P300)
Halabos is the most basic recipe for shrimp. Ramboy's made it special with how they twisted this traditional shrimp dish.
Aside from these bestsellers, here are other dishes that you can get at Ramboy's.

There's no secret on how  Ramboy's made their lechon manok and liempo. They just always make sure that it is freshly-cooked when served. Shown here is the area in the restaurant where they cook their lechon manok and liempo.
Proving to the statement that "Aklan's Best" is now being well-loved by the Ilonggos is the always jam-packed of Ramboy's in SM City Iloilo Southpoint.
Truly, nothing beats the local taste and it is really good that there are successful restaurants like Ramboy's continuously promote local flavors.
