Ilonggos love to eat grilled food. That's why inasal and sinugba are always present in the menu of most local restaurants.

There's another addition to the countless number of restaurants offering grilled dishes in Iloilo City. And it could be found at SM City Iloilo Southpoint.

Charcoal Boy has great offerings that will surely satisfy your cravings for grilled goodness. From its name, you can already figure out what does it in-store for its diners. But there's more to its grilled specialties as it highlight native flavors by giving its customers the freshest local produces.

I and my colleagues in Iloilo Bloggers, Inc. recently had the chance to indulge to our favorite grilled dishes at Charcoal Boy.

The place is perfect for family get togethers with its simple yet spacious setup. They also have a small function room that can be utilized for events and pocket gatherings.

It was my first time to dine in the said restaurant since it opened in December and honestly, I was impressed by their food choices.

Here are the bestselling grilled and seafood dishes that we tried at Charcoal Boy.

Grilled Chicken Breast (P90)

Grilled Liempo (P135)

Pork Barbecue (P148)

For the grilled menu, they let us taste their version of Grilled Chicken Breast, Grilled Liempo and Pork Barbecue which we all love because of the perfect combination of flavors that saturates meat. The dishes were also grilled perfectly, thus, the juiciness that I'm looking for especially to the Grilled Chicken was achieved.

Cheese and Garlic Oyster - 12 pcs. (P135)

Hot Chili Oyster - 12 pcs. (135)

Rockefeller Oyster - 8 pcs. (P120)

Our food trip continued with these oyster baked oyster dishes. I love to eat oyster whether it is steamed or baked. Actually, I am already happy and satisfied with the plain steamed oyster. But since they don't have it on the menu, we tried their Cheese and Garlic, Hot Chili and Rockefeller Oysters.

Among the three, the best one for me is the Rockefeller Oyster as it is something new to my tastebuds. The mix of herbs and other spices complements the flavor of the oyster, making you crave for more.

Sizzling Squid (P185)

Seafood Chopsuey (P235)

We had a feast of seafood with Charcoal Boy's Sizzling Squid and Seafood Chopsuey, a different take to the usual sizzling plate and mixed vegetables we have. What else can you ask for if all of your favorite seafood are wrestling in one plate? These seafood dishes are really must-tries.

With its different take of the usual grilled and seafood dishes, no wonder Charcoal Boy has already branched out to Cebu in just less than a year of operations. As it gives the spotlight to local produces, it also brings the banner of Iloilo as one of the country's gastronomic capital.
