GLOBE Platinum, Globe Telecom’s premium postpaid brand, turned over a classroom building to New Washington Central Elementary School in Aklan on May 28.

Dubbed as Noah’s Ark Project, Globe Platinum’s rehabilitation and rebuilding initiative is the company’s contribution in nation-building and to help the province of Aklan in its restoration efforts after super typhoon “Yolanda” (International name: Haiyan) devastated some of its municipalities in 2013.
Iloilo bloggers also do their "Globe of Good".

Globe Platinum tapped Habitat for Humanity, a Christian organization which aims to provide shelter for humanity by engaging in programs to build houses, schools, libraries, day care centers, and clinics, among others.

The funds for the classroom were from the generosity of Globe Platinum customers. It was built to also serve as evacuation center whenever disasters strike as it can withstand up to 250 kph typhoon and can hold a large number of people. It is also complete with toilet, bath and kitchen facilities to provide convenience to the students and evacuees.

The local government of New Washington and the provincial government of Aklan expressed their appreciation to Globe Platinum and its customers for the donation. It will indeed benefit the people of the municipality, especially, the students who will be using the Noah’s Ark classroom this upcoming school year.

Globe Platinum director Kaisie Del Carmen said that Noah’s Ark Project is their way of continuing the dreams of the present generation and the company’s way of giving back to the society.

“We are committed in doing it as we make that dream a reality,” she noted.
"We did it!"

Del Carmen added that the Noah’s Ark Project is just the first of many nation-building efforts that Globe Platinum is planning to do to give gift of hope and inspiration to more Filipinos together with the collaborative efforts of their partners and customers.

In a message of Gov. Florencio Miraflores read by Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Plaridel Moraña, the Noah’s Ark Project will indeed give hope to the Aklanons as they continue to recover from the catastrophic experience that “Yolanda” brought to their lives.

The governor is also thankful and happy to see how people’s selfless generosity creates an enormous impact to the lives of the many.

Globe Platinum’s Noah’s Ark is one of the many projects being undertaken by Globe as a development partner for Aklan under the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR).

Aside from New Washington, six other municipalities of Aklan benefited from Noah’s Ark Project. These include the towns of Libacao, Madalag, Banga, Batan, Altavas, and Balete.

A total of 41 classrooms will be donated to the said municipalities, 10 of which were in New Washington. More than 5,000 students are expected to benefit from the said new classrooms.

It was indeed a meaningful, fun and unforgettable experience on my part as I finally got a chance to try mural painting for the first time. I also found out that it's a good stress-reliever and a nice way to make one's artistic side come out from its shell. In fact, I might try it out also on the walls of my room (hoping that it will be as beautiful as the one I made with Globe). Kidding!
