MYOH says 'Konichiwa!'

Summer is the best time to strut colorful flip flops by pairing it up with your OOTDs. Good thing Havaianas is always bringing the best of summer through MYOH (Make Your Own Havaianas) event.

Last April 22-24, MYOH hit Havaianas stores nationwide. Here in the City of Love, it was held in All Flip Flops in SM City Iloilo and I was so lucky to be part of this much-awaited event and get a personalized pair.

MYOH allows Havaianaticos (Havaianas afficionados) personalize their own slippers by choosing the sole, strap and pin that perfectly fit their feet and personality. And now on its 11th year, MYOH says "konichiwa" as it pays tribute to its first flip flop inspiration - Zori, a type of Japanese sandals made of fabric straps and rice straw holes.

Yes, Havaianas first got inspiration from the Japanese, though it originated in Brazil in 1962. And this year, MYOH featured Shibori-inspired limited edition pair.

However, mine was a combination of blue green sole (very summery) and gold straps (classic and classy), with Japanese fan and Zori slippers pins.

It's not a roulette or "Spin the Wheel". It is the first stage of the MYOH where you can choose the best combination that you think perfect for you. You can spin it and match the sole and strap that you like.

After choosing your perfect pair, Havaianas flip flop makers will be the one to assemble it for you. And viola! You can already wear your personalized Havaianas slippers!

Havaianaticos really await for this once-in-a-year affair as it is the only time when they get to customize their flip flops.

For those who missed the fun this year, don't worry as Havaianas promises to make MYOH even bigger and grander next year. So, you better watch out for it!
