The recent Typhoon Agaton brought heavy rains and flooding in some parts of the region. In Iloilo City, amidst being spared from its destructive effects, the Iloilo City Government has implemented disaster risk reduction efforts to protect the community and the people.

In fact, the Iloilo City Engineer's Office conducted drainage systems declogging operations to prevent flooding.

The Health Centers in nine Districts of Iloilo City were also given 27 boxes (100 capules/box) of Doxycycline to prevent leptospirosis.

Meanwhile, the River Patrol and Clean-Up continuously cleaned up the Iloilo River. The Public Safety and Transportation Management office also went to the coastal barangays and watched over the river to ensure that the public is away from danger.

Those who were affected by Typhoon Agaton were also given relief goods. Each relief pack include 6 kilos of rice, 3 cans of sardines, 2 cans of beef loaf, 2 cans of corned beef, and 1 box of Mister Donut food packs.

The 9 affected families stayed in Jaro Gym as Evacuation Center.

A water level monitoring in Calubihan Bridge and Dungin Creek was also closely monitored by the CDRRMO-USAR personnel.

"Apisar nga wala kita Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal, makabatyag kita guihapon sang mahina tubtub kasarangan nga pag-ulan gani, sige-sige ang aton pag-monitor," said Mayor Treñas.

"Ang aton Iloilo City Operations Center sa idalom sang aton City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, nag pang handa para sa maulanon nga panahon nga dala sang Tropical Depression Agaton," he added.
