Discovering the flavors of modern Iloilo at Punot

Punot is one of the first local restaurants I featured (READ IT HERE) when I began blogging back in 2013. Offering the "Flavors of Modern Iloilo", this restaurant is a must-try for tourists and even to the returning Ilonggos who long for some Ilonggo dishes and comfort food.

Literally means "fish pen" in Hiligaynon, Punot originally started in Estancia, Iloilo way back in the year 1987. As its name suggests, the restaurant specializes in seafood to showcase the abundance marine resources of its hometown.

Punot gives the traditional Ilonggo food modern twists without distorting the signature taste of every dish. They have added some elements in their food choices to suit the discriminating palette of the modern Ilonggos.

Just recently, Punot revamped its menu by offering new dishes that will surely give its diners more reasons to enjoy their favorite Ilonggo dishes.

Get ready to experience food coma with these new dishes in Punot's menu.

Let's start from the salads and appetizers.

Tres Mangga Salad

Punot Salad

Crispy Chicken Sriracha Adobo Wings

Liempo Chips

Brace yourselves for the entrees.

Kadios Baboy Langka (KBL)

Crispy Kare-Kare

Hamonado

Seafood Platter

Sizzling Indong (Eel)

Chicken Pimiento Cordon Bleu

Soy Chicken
Laing

And to end the food coma, here's Punot's bestselling desserts.

Halo-Halo Overload

Bayi-Bayi Croquettas

Aside from its delightful gastronomic offerings, what I like most about Punot is its very nice ambiance - homey and welcoming. The scenes at the Iloilo River Esplanade just beside the restaurant, especially during late afternoon also set the mood and add to the attraction of the restaurant.

Visit Punot at the Boardwalk in Smallville Complex, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. For reservations, call (033) 320 9893. You may also like their Facebook Page Punot Restaurant and follow their Instagram account @punot_iloilo.
